28 February 2010

Today I'm blessed n thankful to ALLAH swt for another year... for giving me a chance to still live n breath in this world... Syukur alhamdulillah....

People says that 'AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER'... it may be true... but i've got my own tots abt as i incorporated it in one of my FB status :

"how i wish AGE could juz only be a NUMBER..
n do not signify anything else physically n mentally.. ie health, skin elasticity, fine line underneath the eyes, sensitivity, maturity (which is a good thing) etc..
well, i guess AGE IS MORE THAN JUZ A NUMBER..."

be it in any perspective pun... yang penting... i wanna be be happy, healthy, surrounded with the people i love, have a good life... be a better person... n more.. n more... n more...

n... i hope all my doa n prayers will be heard... amin....

Birthday Treat from Maizan

Got a birthday treat from Maizan.. It was kind of 'a be-earlied one' as my birthday had another few weeks 2 go then... But since we met for a movie, she decided to buy me lunch at Italiannies One Utama... Yipppeeee!!!

I love this place.. It's really cosy...

Guess the name says it all, of coz it's Italian cuisine...This is the 'centre-piece'.. It has olive oil, black vinegar, salt & pepper...

When we arrived, we were served a plate of focaccia (a type of Italian bread)... It's on the house /complimentary.. To be taken with olive oil + vinegar... At first, i felt weird.. But when i tried dipping it, memang sedap... It was a perfect combination...

We decided to have the promotional set : 2 course meal for RM 27.90 (1 appetizer + 1 main course).. I guess this is sufficient for both of us as the focaccia itself is really filling.. If order banyak takut membazir laks...

Since Maizan was craving for soup, we ordered Minestrone Soup... It was really delicious yet not too heavy... It contains capsicum and other vege in a tomato based soup...

As for the Main course, since i fancy fish n cheese s much, we settled on Parmesan Crusted Fish... I love the cheesy capers sauce. The long thingy below the fish are fried zucchini...

We also ordered strawberry colada.. This was more to a dessert than drink... I tot it was purely strawberry but it was blended with banana... So it really heavy... M not saying it doesn't taste good, as it really does but it was just that I don't think it's a good combination to the Parmesan Crusted Fish... So get a lighter drink... Guess ice lemon tea will do... But well, if we don't try, we'll never find out...

While we were about to finish our lunch, the lights went off... Not all.. but it was a partial black-out... Aiyooo.... I immediately grab a snap shot as it was such an experience... I took it positively as felt that if we weren't lucky enuff, it wouldn't have happened while we were dining in... kannnn....

All in all, it was such a dining great experience...
Thnx for the treat, Maizan :)

Besides the lunch treat, she gave me a box of brownies which she ordered special... It was really lovely... Muchas gracias mi amiga

Chinese Arrow Head

Seen this fruit before? Available at hypermarket such as Giant or Tesco.. At the fruits / vege section...

It's called ARROW HEAD. It's a Chinese fruit yang boleh dijadikan kerepek. Not sure what the term in Chinese but it's written Arrow Head.. Besides kerepek, m not too sure what are the other function of arrow head as far as cooking is concerned...

One special thingy about arrow head is that it is only available menjelang Chinese New Year, not the whole year round. It really affordable, around RM 1 plus or 2 plus per kg jerr...

So we always grab a few kg and make kerepek. It's really delicious and simple (eventhough agak tedious / remeh...)

Firstly, u've got to remove the skin..
and wash it...
But just leave the tip.. Jangan buang, it'll be useful later...

Heat oil on a frying pan..
and sangat the arrow head towards the frying pan...

note : the arrow head cannot be pre-sliced earlier... it has to be done immediately, and straight to the frying pan... or else it'll be like so melekat-lekat...

add a little bit of air garam to the oil, round quarter teaspoon...
wait till the colour turned to golden brown and lift...

Tarrrraaaaaaaaa.......

Wait till it chill for a while and it's ready for consumption...

This is really worth...
The market price is around RM 12 -16 for 1 jar of arrow head, when the cost is less than 5 bucks...
So grab it while u can...

Dubai Fridge Magnets

Rezeki.. rezeki...

Abg Aziz, a friend of us is staying n working in Sudan... Since he was coming back, apa lagi, wajib kirim fridge magnet (FM), apparently FM of Sudan is not available, so he bought it from Dubai instead... not 1 but 3... all of a different concept... 2 of it is a 3D concept and 1 is the shiny type... Cantekkkk...

Besides FM, he also got a body spray and a box of Kinder Bueno... yummy yummy... Everytime he got back, sure a choc or goodie... Thanx a lot Mamu Aziz... Mamu mesti mari!!! Eh salah! itu Mamu RL4... hhheheh... Apapapun... Semoga murah rezeki Abg Aziz sekeluarga...

Therefore, rite now, i got 5 Dubai FM as i've got 2 initially plus another 3 from Abg Aziz... The rounded one on the left side of the pic is from Fendy Leo and the other one is from Edil's sista, Ezan... Wah! both pun orang Malaysia Airline :)

Eventhough there are 5 from the same city, they are different, unique and of a different concept... Each shows a different perspective of the city...

Talking about FM, my lil sista, Lina Ratu Drama complained to me "bila nak letak FM singapore?" so here it is... the fridge magnet from Singapore which she gave me when we met during Dafi's 21st birthday... Thanx Lina syg... If u come across any other nice one, do have me on yr mine ok... lallalaaaa...

Meeting Echo of Brunei, Darussalam

I know Echo back in 2007. She was one of the pioneer member of Dafi FC and active online... We kept in touch via the net and only met once in 2007. Itupun just for a while... Then we lost touch and met again via FB... When i heard that she is coming to KL, i decided to meet her up... We made plans and met, along with Fara...

Since Echo i staying at Grand Millennium, we went jalan2 around Pavilion at it was just around the corner... We went for lunch and shop... Apparently, Echo was full.. So, she just watch Fara n myself eat... I had oyster omelet and Fara had char kway teow at the food court... The oyster omelet is really delicious... A highly recommended dish for oyster lovers out there... I love the sambal, too..

Echo bought herself quite a number of stuff... Mainly girl's stuff... Well, that was the reason of her coming down.. If i were her, i would've got myself a number of stuff, too... It was more to window shopping for me n Fara... Tapi sempat gakla try few baju n took snapshot... Very typical... hahahha...

Then we went back to the hotel, hang out, chat at the lobby and took few snapshots before we said goodbye to Echo...

We hope Echo had fun as much as we did... It was a pleasure meeting her and thanx for spending your time with us...

Echo bought me 2 lovely fridge magnets.. So my FM dah bertambah.. lallala... I love the orchid one.. Macam ala2 3D gitew... And the one is FM cum toothpick holder.. Thx a lot Echo :)

Anniversary Dinner at Bubba Gump

It's another anniversary and we decided to have dinner at Bubba Gump, Sunway Pyramid.. It has another out let at the Curve but this is nearer... It's a cool place to chill.. Sangat happening yet cosy... I love the ambiance & decoration.. It brings the concept of Forrest Gump!!!

This place is really unique...
Since it applies the concept of Forrest Gump, the system that they implement for the waiter & waitress is really cute... They have this signage thingy that if u want 2 call upon the waiter, just flip to "STOP FORREST STOP".. Meanwhile, if u x need anything from them, just leave it to "RUN FORREST RUN"... and they will just walk past the table, without the need to stop...

What a cool ambiance..

I love the bash basin.. sgt authentic...

Enuff about the place as a whole... Ok... Lets get to the food section... We ordered a set meal consists of 6 courses (including drinks... i don't wanna exaggerate)...

- garlic bread, salad, main course, dessert, coffee and refillable drink...
all these for RM55.00++... all comes to RM 63.25 nett...
- i think it's really worth it.. If u x a 'big eater', this set is sufficient for 2 person...

The Set

The Garlic Bread...
- it was really crispy yet soft inside...
The smell of the butter was really irresistible...

Ceaser Salad

As for the Main Course, it came with selection of 4... I can't really remember what are those, but basically it was Chicken, Seafood, Steak & Rib... We took Rib as we both love it and it the most expensive among the 4 choices... Ahaks..

the yummy, succulent, moist BBQ Ribs

taraa... tinggal tulang rangka purba... lol...

As for the dessert, it came with 2 choices... Bread Pudding or Chocolate Chip Cookie... Initially it was Strawberry Shortcake or Chocolate Chip Cookie... Both came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream... And whipped cream... But i felt that the bread pudding was a bit tooo sweeeetttt for me...

The Bread Pudding

This was only our second time here, the last time we came was way back in July 2009... These was we had then... Well, x sempat nak blog :)

Cajun Shrimp
- a perfect combination with the set meals as wasn't too heavy n reasonable...
- come along with the wonderful garlic bread.
- the taste was really yummy...

Strawberry Shortcake as Dessert

- the rest were similar...

All in all, i prefer the 1st time we went there... the service was better, and they paid more attention to us... We know we x contribute much but well, we're still customer... Maybe there wasn't enough staff as the long CNY holidays were approaching... But thanx goodness the foods were fine...

ps : thanx to my lovely hubs for the lovely dinner n for spending hs 'memorex' time...
Happy Anniversary.... lalallalaaa...

love this one...

Silver Pot

Found another steamboat restaurant, it's at, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, KL (not TTDI Jaya, Shah Alam) called "Silver Pot". The steamboat menu comes in set or ala carte... Besides steamboat, it also served other meal such as fried noodles n such... But basically, this place is well known for it's steamboat.

One good thing about Silver Pot is the stove comes individually... So u need to share your pot... The are 2 types of sauces : peanut & somekind of thai sauce. The peanut sauce is rather sweet and the Thai sauce is sour n kinda spicy. I loved the Thai sauce!!! And the chopstick is aluminum / stainless steel... Chumells...

We ordered this set for 2 person that cost around RM 29.90... Sangat worth!!! Since i came with Maizan, we had difficulties finishing it... As both girl pun dah x larat..

But all in all, i think i prefer 'Pulau Ketam' of Ikano Power Centre, kot... The soup, the sauces, the selections of foods... All yummy yummy... Yang penting is the smell... And also the ambiance... Pulau Ketam is cosy and here macam bising... Nak chat pun macam susah... Probably because of the fan kot...

But whatever it is, we sort of meet someone here... Someone I really respect... They sat at the table in front of us and went back earlier... The best part was, when we wanted 2 pay, the girl said 'dah bayar'... I was startled as i totally didn't aspect it... So Maizan asked me to search and say thanx but I didn't know where they park.. We tried but we could find...

All in all, we felt honoured n appreciated... Thanx a lot from the bottom of my heart... Semoga murah rezeki mereka sekeluarga... :)
