Tahina / tahini from Sudan

tahini
a thick Middle Eastern paste made from ground sesame seeds
- a tasty mixture to be spread on bread or crackers or used in preparing other dishes

Tahini paste is used in a variety of dishes. Tahini-based sauces are common in Arab and I****li restaurants as a side dish or as a garnish, usually including lemon juice, salt and garlic, and thinned with water. Tahini sauce is a popular condiment for meat and vegetables in Middle Eastern cuisine. It is also a main ingredient in soups. As a spread, tahini can replace peanut butter on bread, though the flavor and texture are quite different.

In Turkey, tahini mixed with pekmez is common as a breakfast item, especially in winters.

In Cyprus, tahini is mixed with a sort of pastry along with sugar making a sweet desert or breakfast side. It is called Tahınlı and is most common in the North of Cyprus.

Tahini is also the main ingredient in the Mediterranean type of halva.

Tahini is becoming more common in European cuisine and can be found as an ingredient in some pre-packaged sandwiches.

Sesame paste is also used in Chinese, Korean and Japanese cuisines.

Wak Dol vs. Pak Li

Have u ever experience a situation when so are tremendously, extremely hungry, u craved so much for a meal, as in a proper meal...

Apparently, when it comes to the time, things doesn't seemed the way u expect it 2 be (as in, the taste / service sucks, etc) and u just loose yr appetite in a split second, sedangkan perut mmg lapar tahap maximum, but u just CAN'T EAT!!!

Unfortunately, I had to face this situation when i got back from AJL with Adam Timberlake de la Spears (yang mengalami 'hangover' eventhough he didn't drink- nyanyi Womanizer like nobody's biz LOL) and Mr. Fauzi aka Mesin Masa. It was already 1am & i was so sleepy but yet hungry.

They ordered fried kway teow n i ordered Club Sandwiches. After sometimes, i wondered y la my order x sampai lagi, so i asked the girl, she checked n actually told me dgn penuh selamba : Sorry i Lupa...

Ok fine, i still wait.. But bila adam dah habis makan, n my food is still not served, i called - i mean, i screamed in order to get their attention (as they were bz with themselves), n cancelled my order :
- Tp dah buat dah
- Tp i dah hilang selera, n i xkn makan the food kalu u served pun
- Sorrylah, kitchen byk order td
(occupancy x sampai 50% pun)

Within split second, she came to the table with the club sandwich - which gave me picture, that benda 2 dah siap, but she didn't serve it as she was bz chit-chatting or whatever. Lg la I blow!!! So what's the point of her taking it to the table as i already rejected it.

Fact / experience / comparison :

1.Wak Dol's fried kway teow xde Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) - rasa x sama.
- meanwhile Pak Li's fried kway teow always taste the same.

2. My earl grey tea wasn't served in the same cup as it was previously.

3. Didn't listen to orders as Adam said - both kway teow lebih, but only 1 yang lebih, the other didn't.

4. Pak Li always repeat order which Wak Dol never.
- Eventhough it is just 2 miserable ice lemon tea n Faiz (the waiter yg always serves us) dah familiar sgt. He sees our face n mention it, but he still repeats order.

5. Wak Dol had difficulties handling orders - probably baru kot...

6. Out of 426 times, ops! sorry.. According 2 Adam it's 597 times we went to Pakli, we only got screwed few times. But this is only my 3rd time in Wak Dol n i already got screwed. Almost got screwed the 2nd time, but i deal with it hoping it'll never happen again.

So Moral of the story :
PAK LI IS STILL THE BEST

So... not that I won't go to Wak Dol anymore, but i'll be extra carefull.. But I'll take a break for the time being. So sorry if i'm being a little harsh here, but since i work in hospitality industry / service line, its hard 4 me to tolerate this kinda crab. Furthermore, i was really hungry then & it somehow spoilt my mood, in the middle of the night.

Enough Said!!!

Chic Cuppies Moments

Checked out Chic Cuppies the other day... 1st time consuming was during Faradiba's Surprise Bday party... No doubt the topping is kinda sweet, so i had to minimize the intake... But the rest, mmg perfect!!! Moist, tasty n simply yummmyyyyyyyyyy.......

Also loved the concept of the outlet, the variety of cuppies differs daily... Sort ada daily time table.... So cuteeeeeeeeee...........

As beginning, we tried 1 1st -
FATAL ATTRACTION!!!
-Choc cuppy with choc topping...

The next day, better half made a surprise as I was fasting... Konon2 juadah berbuka la... Katanya... Walaupun...

Voila...

My darlink Fatal Attraction & Wake Me Up
- Coffee flavoured cuppy with coffee flavoured topping...

Piece of advise :
Since I was 2 full 2 consume it, so I kept in the fridge n ate it the day after. Well i felt that the texture sucked... Seriously... So moral of the story, better consume it at room tempreature & while its fresh... Or else it'll be keras n dry...

Cherry

Few month ago, Lyn published a posting on Lemak Duku, well, i think its my turn to talk about one of my favorite fruit, fresh cherries...

Taken from Wikipedia :
The word
cherry refers to a fleshy fruit (drupe) that contains a single stony seed. The cherry belongs to the family Rosaceae, genus Prunus, along with almonds, peaches, plums, apricots and bird cherries. The subgenus, Cerasus, is distinguished by having the flowers in small corymbs of several together (not singly, nor in racemes), and by having a smooth fruit with only a weak groove or none along one side. The subgenus is native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with two species in America, three in Europe, and the remainder in Asia. The word "cherry" comes from the French word "cerise", which comes in turn from the Latin words cerasum and Cerasus.

There actually nothing much that i wanna say about cherry, apparently, my cousin just got engaged and had cherries (mixed with grapes) as one of the hantaran. Taste tinggi uols... Maklumla, he's a chef (correction! yea cik suraya- its actually COMMIS 1, to be precised) in a 5 star hotel.

Coincidentally, it happened to be one of my favourite - but could hardly get it as it cost a fortune :) According to my cousin, the market price is around RM 60.00 per kg, from Petaling Street... Itu baru PS, if Cold Storage lagila mahals... He happens to be lucky as his boss sponsored those cherries for the hantaran.

Since he's a perfectionist, he only choose the best to be given to the bride's side. The rest were served for family. So, I managed to indulged myself with several numbers. To me, it's so sedap n i enjoyed it more than grape...

ps:
I wonder y it looked red in internet when its actually dark maroon here... Probably bcoz of our whether here...
