The Turkish Wedding Reception

reposted from http://albajuri.blogspot.com/ plus some edition..

Merhaba...

Just got back from Istanbul few weeks ago... The main reason of the trip was to attend my cousin's wedding reception whom was married 2 a Turkish guy...

hish! tangan & cam sapa lah yg tersesat dlm pic ni? :D

Just 2 share some pictures taken during Fariza & Bilal's wedding reception at Istanbul... The wedding took place at a park (like our Taman Tasik Titiwangsa) by the beach... Sangat cantekkk...It was amazing, we could even see the sunset...

Not gonna say much, let the pictures speaks for itself :

Disclaimer : posting ini sggt byk gambar!!!

Fariza ile Bilal

The dining hall was really lovely

We were welcomed by Burak (Bilal's brother), Bilal's Dad, his grandpa & the rest of the family

The Ladies of the Bride's side...
Meriah kan pakaian kami??

Fariza & her new family

This is the highlight of the event. The family members & friends presenting gifts / token to the bride & groom...
receiving a bangle from Anne
(mother in law)

From Father in law

As for us, we will normally hand over money (normally 2 the parents) in an envelope, or angpow packets, rite... Also known as 'Salam kaut / salam keruk / salam isi' etc...

As for the Turkish, they pin the money to a 'selempang' attached to the pengantin... So if u bagi like sangat ciput, agak malu la... lol...

The process of handing over 'ang pow'

I saw lotsa Turkish Liras, USD, Euro, etc...
But of coz no RM... hehheheh

By the end of the event, Bilal was 'full'

Lambaian persis 'Miss Universe' :)

With beloved Mak & Abah

Me with Yasemeen, Bushra & Umar

Elif & friends...
Aren't they cute & adorable???
Penyiri.... (cheese)

My beloved uncle, DZB enjoying his Baklava

The dishes served - something new to most of us..

As for the meal, we were served bread, salad (as advertiser), some kind of pastry (macam popia) with beef filling. I could tolerate that the beef was kinda salty I had 2 get rid and only eat a bit...

The main course was beef with condiments of fries and rice. Fyi, they took rice as side dish unlike Malaysian that consume rice as main item. The Baklava (dessert) was great but too sweet for me... Loved the Pistachio sprinked on top!!!

I was like "sebaik dkt tempat orang, if dkt Malaysia, haruss I balik carik mamak, or Pakli, or McD" hehhehhe... Anyway, the sour cherry (pink can) was really delicious, had 2 cans :D

Realized that the park looks really lovely even at night. This pic was captured with my flash off. I loved the concept where they installed traffic light for cyclers / bikers... And the grass looks so green... Wish I had more time 2 spend on the park...

'Gule-gule' means Goodbye...
(it has nothing 2 do with gula-gula taw :)

***All in all, it was a great experience having had the chance to attend a Wedding Reception that is totally different from our culture. I learned new things, made new friends, see new environment, the list goes on n on... Most important is, it made me cherish our Malaysian heritage even more... And, i'm really thankful for all these... Alhamdulillah***
