Just to share our experience while we were in Singapore. This time i'll share some commuting mode while we were there. Do click here to recall my previous post on this trip.
Initially, we planned to drive over. Apparently after considering lots of advices from friends, Mutiara Hotel Manager & staff, and some opinion from from the net, we decided not to. Reasons :
- not sure of the routes there- not familiar with the rules
- easy excess of MRT
--> Left the car Mutiara JB - thanx 2 Mr. Ravin, the Banquet Manager for giving us complimentary parking for a day - i just love this hotel la, service excellent!!!
--> Took a cab to the interchange
--> from the interchange, we took a bus to Kranji MRT and waited for hubby kak Linda... Naik lorry uols, 1st time- but we sat at the front part la... :)
At Singapore, basically we had 3 mode of travelling - MRT - bus - walk- if were to stay longer, I think we would have explored more...
MRT
This is our main commuting mode. There are 3 lanes : Green - Red - Purple.
Firstly, everything seemed too alien 2 us, but as we got the hang of it, it was as easy as ABC... katanya...
Just determine the desired destination, and see if it's the same lane, if it's not, find an interchange and get another MRT which goes to the destination.
Just determine the desired destination, and see if it's the same lane, if it's not, find an interchange and get another MRT which goes to the destination.
For example, from Pasir Ris (Green lane) to Orchard (Red lane) :
stop at City Hall interchange - take MRT to Orchard
The ticket could be return after every trip and $1 will be refunded. But most Singaporean has MRT card, something like our Touch & Go thingy. Just top-up whenever the balance ran low. Tak perlu nak susah payah beli ticket everytime nak travel...
One good thing i see here is most passenger wouldn't be sitting idly in the MRT. There must be something that they did during the ride such as reading, listening to ipod, playing games, or simply sleep :) etc...
This includes the girl next to me. She was busy reading her notes as she only gets up once the door was opened. Gigih kan...
It was a fun ride by MRT. Easy excess, nice view and could go almost anywhere we wished to...
Bus
We took bus from Pasir Ris to Punggol bus station. Saja nak merasa naik bus. Then we took MRT from Punggol to Indian Street. Felt so awkward as we hardly took bus in KL ... LOL... Told the driver to inform once dah sampai. Met lots of students heading to school on our way.
Quite an experience...
Quite an experience...
Taxi
Besides taking taxi from the MRT station to the house in Pasir Ris, we also took taxi to the interchange. The charges were around $16.00. Ok la, reasonable. From Pasir Ris MRT Station to street 71 would cost around $3.60.
Basically the taxis in Singapore are reliable. Most of it operates using meters to determined the fares. So one could hardly be cheated when fares are concerned.
Walk
This the one of the most common mode of traveling besides MRT. We did lots n lots of walking more than we've ever did here. We walked from MRT station to the destination. Once we're stucked, we just find anyone and asked for direction.... Lalalalla...
As we're walking and asked 4 direction, we met this guy with his mum. The best thing was, they were from Bandung - our favourite place... They were on vacation, 2... What a coincidence to meet them there...
What a long post... Sorry any boredom caused...

i rarely take taxi ride cause mahal.. unless poket tebal and tgh malas gils..
niwae, MRT lane ada lagi satu colour which is GREY..
aww, dont talk about you coming to Spore again.. lol.. cause it makes me hurt that i didnt got to meet you!
tkpa2, lain kali kak amy dtg, i bring you to VivoCity okay? not bad though.. like i said to you, i don't really noe the-best-shopping-place in spore cause im not the type of girls yg always keluar to shopping.. lols.. i'm just plain lazy.. :p
hmm, tak penah naik pengangkutan awam singapura, MRT drg tak sesak ek. kalo LRT, susah nak membaca sebab selalunya sesak, jarang tak ramai orang, dan kena jaga2 dari pencopet.
enjoy baca percutian kak amy ni.hehe

we had 2 take cabs gak, cz we x know how 2 get by esp from mrt station 2 the desired destination...
mmg la it cost a lot kn, esp after converting 2 M, tp nak wat camner kan, lgpun, we had 2 catch up with time...
emmmm... act i pun, xtaw bila lagi we'll get the chance 2 go there again, inipun coincidence je...
but if we 2 be there again, n if ada rezeki, insya, we'll meet...

dear edzlin,
i'm nt 2 sure if MRT usually sesak or x, maybe m kitorg naik 2 bukan peak hour, dat's x sesak...
but if peak hour pun, MRT dia kerap, so xla sesak sgt kot...
pasal pencopet 2, dkt mana2 pun kena hati2 la... hopefully dijauhkan dari semua 2... amin...
thx edz :)
if ada peluang, nt akak share lg ok...
lol.. insya-allah..
ada rezeki kita jalan2 lagi okay??
