Well, this is considered a belated posting.
Apparently, Tun has always been mentioning that my blog has some sort of 'Travel & Living' elements (Ray, r u sure?)... somehow i'm inspired to have a Jalan-jalan Cari Pasal ops! I mean, Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan type of posting.
In this type of post, I'll try to do an 'amateur' kind of food review... Konon la... Please excuse should there be any missing elements... maklumla, baru nak belajar buat so called food review...
I do have quite a number of foods & restaurants pictures that i took but apparently, tak sempat nak buat posting. InsyaAllah, I'll do it gradually, if time permits.
So for a start, i'll begin with this seafood restaurant that had our dinner at, in Langkawi. This place was introduced to us by the Travel Agent guy, as we were looking for a good food, with reasonable price, preferably Chinese Cuisine. Definitely halal la, of coz...
This place is called Wonderland Seafood Restaurant, located in Pekan Kuah, by the River. 1st impression, you'll might think it's non halal, and i don't say its 100% halal as it serves liquor. But when it comes to food, it is ensured halal. Even the staff and chef are Malay. But according to the owner, he had to served those alcoholic beverages as 80% are foreigner @ 'Mat Salleh'.
There are several restaurants along the row, but this place had a major crowd. Customer's responds are tremendously overwhelming. Some even had to wait to obtain their seats, even the neighbor restaurant had so banyak vacancies, but they still waited for this one.
Ambiance of the Restaurant Most of the customer's are regulars. According to the owner, there is this one couple from Australia, and they had been there for like 8 years, every summer mesti turun Langkawi.
And we were like so
kiasu, we were there for 5days/4nights, and for all those nights, we had dinner there. Not that we are not keen enough to try other 'genre' of restaurants in Pantai Cenang or elsewhere, but this is just, perfect for our taste buds
(n pockets, of coz heheheh). Furthermore, its not quite easy to find a reasonable halal Chinese Restaurant in Klang Valley... Kalau ada pun, it'll normally cost a fortune. So dats was the reason we took the chance, while we were there.
So lets take a look at what we had.
Day 1
Baked Tiger Prawn- the prawn mmg sedap
, i love the spices. But tiger prawn (as in the meat) is a bit tough to be compared to udang kertas or other type of small prawn.
Ikan Masak Tiga Rasa (Chinese Style)- we can't seemed to recall the type of fish we ordered, kerapu kot... But it's a bit to simple for a 'masak 3 rasa'. Its just kicap with some stuff plus cili padi potong yang ditabur on top. Eventhough it was simple, its tasty.
Kailan Oyster Sauce
- biasa la, kailan.. Nothing extra ordinary. I just had a bit.. as m not the vege type of person...
Kam Heong Lala
- this is perfect. The kam heong was great and the portioning was not too bad...Total : around RM 60.00
Day 2 Kam Heong Crab, Steamed Seabass (Ikan Siakap Kukus) & Udang Lipan Kung Poh Style (cili kering)
Comments :
Steamed Seabass (Ikan Siakap Kukus)
- BINGO!!! It's just perfect for us.. Mild and not too heavy & yet so tasty....
Udang Lipan Kung Poh Style (cili kering)
- The kung poh dish is sedap, but we prefer it to be fish fillet (boneless) kot... But for the sake of trying the 'udang lipan', ok la...
Kam Heong Crab
- memang sedap... It tasted something like the lala, of coz la, both pun masak Kam Heong, but of course its not the same, the crab is like so sedap... My eating habit, prawn & crab will always be my last. Save the best for last is my style. Therefore, i could enjoy it sepuas-puasnya. And i will eat using my hands... I always like to enjoy my prawn/crab dengan penuh khusuk & tawadduk & istiqamah... :)
Total : around RM 40 plusDay 3We planned to slow things down that night. had too much cholesterol intake la... So we ordered something simple. We had Fried Meehoon & Siakap Masak Steam.
Had to sustain the siakap, as it was tasty and not too high in terms food intake. And most important was, we just loved it....
No pics taken.
Comments : -The fried meehoon was tasty. Eventhough its simple, the taste and texture was just perfect. Total : RM 30
Day 4
Buttered Prawn Steamed Seabass Baked Lobster- We don't often eat lobster due to the price which cost a fortune, in fact we hardly take lobster. Since this comes in small portion, this is the time for us to try. And yes, it was so delicious... The isi (eventhough not so banyak) had been taken out from the shell, cooked and put back. It just taste so good, i could hardly describe...
And, I loved the garnishing* so much... Lalalla...
[*garnish = a term : used to decorate food]
Baked Lobster (zoomed in view)
When m full, i started 'playing' with the garnishing... They used carrot to make this 'net' like thingy... So I spent several minutes trying hard to figure out how it was done and voila... got it...
Total : RM 60 nett!!!
Another reason why this place is very popular is probably because of the owner. He is super-duper friendly and he knows how to please his customers well. Despite how busy he was. He knows exactly what to do in busy situation, how to reseat his customers when the rain pour etc...
And he gives good discounts... Just imagine, we paid only RM60 for the lobster, prawn n siakap... He actually
'cincai' kira for us, as for the fish, he gave an extra size compared to the previous ones... We ended taking away the buttered prawn as we were too full to finished it...
Ok dats all about my posting of Wonderland... Hope it was ok, anything, feel free to comment... And, please excuse my
bahasa rojak...
